Nurse Leadership Program

UNE Partnerships, in conjunction with the Australian General Practice Network (AGPN), has developed the Nurse Leadership Program. This course provides essential management skills for nurses engaged in primary healthcare services within private and general public practices and for those employed by Divisions of General Practice.

This program recognises the current substantial growth and development of the Australian nurses’ workforce, and aims to develop their leadership skills, to enable a more effective delivery and coordination of healthcare services and projects.

The Program
The Nurse Leadership Program will equip participants to take a greater, more responsible role in a professional setting, and operate effectively and confidently within the business environment of general practice and primary care.
The program is based on established, academically rigorous requirements. It is a practical workplace focused program that qualifies the participants in the Diploma of Management (BSB51107), a nationally recognised qualification within the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).

The Methodology
The program is based on action learning and a workplace orientated approach. Action learning is a process of learning and refection, supported by colleagues, with an intention of applying learning outcomes in the workplace. The program runs over a twelve-month period in two delivery modes, distance education and blended workshop delivery.

Funding Opportunity

Funding is available for eligible students wanting to enrol in the workshop program, through the Royal College of Nursing Australia.

Continuing Professional Development scholarships (NAHSSS CPD) are funded by the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing. They are designed to support nurses and midwives to undertake continuing professional education activities, short courses, workshops and conferences.
