The units of competency encompass various themes including learning environment, learning design, delivery and facilitation, assessment, training advisory services, coordination, management and quality of training and/or assessment services. The qualification comprises five core and seven elective units. Candidates must successfully complete the 12 units of competency to gain the qualification.

Learning Environment (ENV)

This unit covers the requirements for individuals to manage their personal professional performance, including modelling high standards of performance in accordance with professional standards and procedures. The unit is also designed to assist Vocational Education and Training (VET) personnel to identify strategies for maintaining currency and responding to changes in VET policy and the operating environment.

Learning Design (DES)

The learning design units address competence in both the design of learning resources and the design of learning strategies, and include different applications and outcomes of the learning design process.

Delivery and Facilitation (DEL)

The units in the delivery and facilitation field cover the competencies required to deliver training, facilitate learning and differentiate competence by application in different delivery modes. The units cover the skills required to lead and coordinate training services and to provide advanced facilitation to support learning.

Training Advisory Services (TAS)

The training advisory services units represent two discrete areas of work. The first relates to training support while the other unit represents advisory/consultancy work functions, including managing contracted work and facilitating group processes.

Coordination, Management and Quality of Training and/or Assessment Services (CMQ)

The units within this field address a range of work functions connected with the coordination and management of training and/or assessment services and systems. Key areas covered include policy development, apprenticeship/traineeship coordination, and systemic evaluations, plus determining scope and team leadership.

Imported units

The imported units have been selected from the Business Services Training Package to
complement the TAA04 competency standards and to provide additional flexibility to the
competency framework qualifications.

Assessment (ASS)

This unit addresses the competence required to provide leadership in assessment and to
coordinate assessment validation and appeals processes. It involves developing and/or
confirming the assessment strategy for an assessment only pathway, in addition to
extending expertise in leading assessors and monitoring assessment practice.
