Celebrating achievements - Graduation 2008
UNE Partnerships held its second biennial Graduation Ceremony at the Old Teachers’ College in Armidale on Saturday 1 November 2008. Family and friends joined with the successful graduates in celebrating their achievements. Graduates travelled from as far away as Melbourne and Brisbane to attend the ceremony.
Richard Doyle, Managing Director of UNE Partnerships welcomed the graduates and the Occasional Address was delivered by Professor Alan Pettigrew, Vice Chancellor and Chief Executive Officer of the University of New England, who also presented the qualifications to the graduates. Attending as a special guest was Richard Torbay, who has had a long association with the University of New England.
Responding on behalf of the students was Debra Jenner, who has completed a Diploma of Business (Frontline Management) and an Advanced Diploma of Business Management with UNE Partnerships. Debra thanked UNE Partnerships staff for their support throughout her studies. “As a wife, mother, and working full time, finding the time to study meant taking my notes to cricket, soccer, netball and any other extracurricular activities my kids are involved in, so I could make the most of every spare minute. There were lots of late nights, but in the end I achieved what I set out to, with the support of my family, friends and the encouragement of work colleagues, along with staff and assessors from UNE Partnerships.” Debra, who works at the University of New England, is currently considering further study.
2008 marked the 80th Anniversary of the Armidale Old Teachers’ College, head office for UNE Partnerships. This historical building provided a beautiful setting for this special event.
Almost 2700 students have graduated from UNE Partnerships programs over the past two years with another 2000 currently enrolled. For those looking at further study, students who complete a Diploma or Advanced Diploma qualification with UNE Partnerships have access to pathways into awards at the University of New England. They are also eligible to join the UNE Alumni
