Peter TorningPeter has extensive knowledge and experience in public sector reform and management review with 23 years in the NSW Police Service including more than 20 years as a detective of general and specialist investigation and 10 years in a senior training capacity.

What range of programs do you feel are essential in providing progression for individuals working within the public sector?

Being able to provide a range of programs that can cater to a variety of needs is important. General business skills such as communication and reporting, management, strategic planning, supervision and leadership are essential, along with project management and the compliance issues that are important to those working within the government sectors.

What special considerations need to be addressed when delivering training within the public sector?

For those working with the government sector there is a high degree of accountability which is monitored by various oversight agencies. This means understanding and working with the checks that operate within the system.
